My Process

  • ADDIE model applied to stay organized and consistent with learning objectives

  • Communication training goals discussed with Subject Matter Expert (SME)

  • Action Map created to address each learning objective

  • Text-based storyboard and visual mock-ups created in Microsoft Word & Adobe Illustrator

  • Prototype developed using Articulate Storyline with ElevenLabs for voiceovers

  • Testing of prototype with colleagues before full development

Action Map

  • Main communication problems arose from lack of clarity

  • Problems:

    • Leaving out important details

    • Vague Responses

    • Not identifying action items

  • Research-backed solutions:

    • Detailed responses

    • Clear requests for action items

    • Voice or video chat (when email or text chat is ineffective)

Visual Mock-Up

  • Wireframes created using Adobe Illustrator to map out basic layouts

  • Main templates are Mitchell's living room and his station with realistic email, "Teams", and video chat backgrounds

  • Fonts are easy to read and flow well with Outlook and Teams-inspired fonts

  • Colors are subtle so they don't distract from the storytelling immersion

  • Prototype created in Articulate Storyline

  • Included first scenario (email)

  • Learners experienced decision-making and results of different approaches

  • Received feedback from colleagues on audio, timing of slides, and the script

Full Development

After collecting feedback from colleagues in the field, I fully developed the project using Articulate Storyline. I used ElevanLabs AI voiceovers for more realistic character speech to enhance the immersive experience for learners.
